Life Lately, in Photos

Last week marked my 3-month anniversary in Saltillo, which is almost impossible to believe. I am making friends (yay!), loving my job, and not regretting for a second that I moved here.

The only thing that had been bumming me out lately was the fact that I might not be able to go home for Christmas because of some immigration complications. I told my mom, and my family decided they would all come here to spend Christmas with me! God is really good to me.

Here are some photos of what I’ve been doing lately:

Bowling with Monica and Laura

Really delicious burgers from Chelo’s-ironically enough I eat way more burgers here than at home πŸ˜€

Thanksgiving dinner with my co-workers

“Pumpkin Pie”

Santa at the mall!

Carlos and I bought tamale dough for his Mom and this is the machine they make it out of, with just corn kernels and water. SO fresh, natural, and delicious!

Salsa! Carlos’ mom cooked tomatoes and chiles on a pan on a stovetop until they were a little charred, and then I ground them in this bowl, called a “molcajete.”

I went to my very first posada! We still had a pinata even though it was absolutely freezing outside…

…and Carlos knocked it down. That’s my boy!

Last week I decided I needed to see some more things in Saltillo, so I went to el Museo del Desierto.

The botanical garden at the museum, which was basically all cactus. I think it’s so pretty!

A nice view of Saltillo

My Christmas party at Berlitz-we’re doing a gift exchange here…

…and we had a nice dinner at La Frida (see the pics of Frida Kahlo on the back wall??)
