Thanksgiving in Mexico

Even though Mexico doesn’t celebrate the holiday, it’s still Thanksgiving week for me. I work with quite a few other Americans, and one organized a Thanksgiving meal on Saturday night that a local hotel catered. The food was a little different (as I expected), but the important thing was that I got to eat turkey and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. And there was even pumpkin pie for dessert!

We also went around the table and said what we were thankful for. I said I was thankful to finally be living in Mexico.  I am healthy here, happy, have enough money to pay my bills and eat the occasional taco, am making new friends, and can feel my Spanish getting better every day. Really, what more could I ask for?

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” -Psalm 107 : 1
